Just over a year ago we shared a post to announce that we were officially starting the application process with Marketplace Ministries and the C&MA. One year and ten days later, through God’s grace, provision and leading, we walked into the C&MA National Office for our pre-appointment interview. A few hours later, we left appointed for ministry in Tokyo! Our interview not only helped them confirm our appointment, but God used it as a time of affirmation for us. We cannot thank everyone enough for praying for us over the past few years as we have walked through this process. We would love for you to continue to pray for us as we prepare for Japan.
Everyone’s first question has been, “What’s the next step?”
1. We will begin seeking individuals and groups that are willing to partner with us in our ministry, via prayer and financial support. We will create goals for how many prayer partners we would like to have who will commit to praying for us diligently on a regular basis. We will also create budgets for our one-time outgoing and moving expenses, as well as for the portion of regular monthly support income we will need that will not be covered by Jonathan’s part-time salary in Japan (if this sounds confusing…it IS a little bit…contact us for more details and we’d be happy to answer any questions).
2. We will attend training for cross-cultural ministry and skills learning for language acquisition. This could be anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the program we choose, and the amount of time away that Jonathan’s work schedule will allow. We will also be looking for other opportunities for missions training as time allows, such as the M28 Global Discipleship conference that we are attending locally this coming weekend.
3. We will begin preparations for moving overseas, such as obtaining visas, clearing out our personal possessions, and selling the house.
Very soon we hope to have updated information on our website. If you’d like to contact us or just keep up with what we’re doing, you can sign up for our newsletter or follow and engage with us on Facebook and Instagram.
