Can I have my JR Pass issued without the Exchange Order (voucher)?

Unfortunately, the JR Pass cannot be issued without the original Exchange Order (voucher).

The National JR Group regulations are very strict when it comes to authenticity of paperwork. This is why it is obligatory to have the original JR Pass Exchange Order and your passport (stamped with a Temporary visitor stamp).

Can I exchange my Japan Rail Pass with a copy of my passport or ID?

The JR voucher and your passport are the two physical documents that will be required by the JR staff when exchanging your JR Pass. No scanned, photocopied, photographed or email substitutes of the original documents will be accepted.
